The commitment was made in a meeting between H.E. Dr. Ing Kanha Phavi, Minister of Women’s Affairs and Mrs. Dr. Angelika Stauder, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany to Cambodia here in Phnom Penh early this week.

Mrs. Dr. Angelika Stauder reiterated Germany’s stance in strengthening women’s economic empowerment and Cambodia’s economic recovery after the crisis of COVID-19.

Mrs. Dr. Angelika Stauder emphasised that the cooperation will allow opportunity for Integrated Expert on Economic and Gender (CIM), especially the cooperation on women, peace and security between the two nations.

H.E. Dr. Ing Kantha Phavi spoke highly of the long-lasting partnership between Cambodia and Germany.

The minister recalled the German Embassy’s first secretary of the Government of Germany’s active contribution to Cambodia’s development, peace building and women’s empowerment.

Since 2002, Germany has contributed to the ministry’s activities to prevent violence against women and supported the ministry’s women economic experts, she continued.

H.E. Dr. Ing Kantha Phavi also underlined the ministry’s effort in promoting the equality of gender in Cambodia, adding that through ASEAN Committee on Women (ACW), the ministry has established a regional plan of action to advance women, peace and security to be proposed for adoption in the ASEAN Summit to be hosted by Cambodia this year.
