Cambodia, France to Strengthen Parliamentary Cooperation

The Kingdom of Cambodia and the French Republic have pledged to continue strengthening their parliamentary cooperation.

The commitment were made in a courtesy meeting here on Dec. 17 between Samdech Akka Moha Sena Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly (NA), and newly appointed French Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Jacques Pellet.

Samdech Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin underlined the NA’s readiness in facilitating the French diplomatic mission in Cambodia to be successful.

He recalled the historic relationship between the two countries, stressing that it has been constantly consolidated till the present day.

H.E. Jacques Pellet highly valued Cambodia’s success in COVID-19 vaccination campaign and the country’s reopening which allows the Cambodian and French parliaments to further boost their cooperation, including their visit exchange.

The new French diplomat reaffirmed France’s continued support for Cambodia and informed the NA president of the upcoming visit of the secretary-general of La Francophonie to Cambodia, which will be an opportunity to foster the cooperation between both countries’ parliaments.
