Cambodia Briefs Diplomatic Missions on Border Situation with Thailand

Phnom penh: H.E. CHANN Rotana, Under Secretary of State and Acting Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, provided an update to 25 representatives from 22 diplomatic missions and international organizations in Phnom Penh regarding the latest developments in the Cambodia-Thailand border situation.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the briefing concentrated on three main issues: the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special General Border Committee from December 27, 2025; the key outcomes of a trilateral meeting held on December 29, 2025, involving foreign ministers and senior military officials from Cambodia, Thailand, and China in Yunnan Province, China; and the release of 18 Cambodian soldiers on December 31, 2025.

The Under Secretary of State addressed the updated civilian casualties, including the death toll, injuries, displaced persons, and the extensive damages caused by the indiscriminate attacks by Thai armed forces on Cambodia's territory and sovereignty, as well as civilian areas.

He also took the opportunity to express gratitude for the humanitarian assistance extended to Cambodia by friendly countries, particularly China, either directly or through international organizations or NGOs.
