Phnom penh: Cambodia and the United States have pledged to deepen their bilateral cultural cooperation, focusing on heritage preservation and the ongoing repatriation of looted artifacts. H.E. Dr. Phoeurng Sackona, Cambodian Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, met with Ms. Bridgette L. Walker, Charg© d'Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh, to discuss expanding the cultural partnership between the two nations.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Minister Sackona emphasized the vital role of U.S. support in safeguarding Cambodia's cultural legacy. She conveyed her gratitude for Washington's technical and financial assistance, particularly in combating the illicit trafficking of antiquities and facilitating the return of lost Khmer treasures to their homeland.
Beyond heritage conservation, the collaboration also supports professional training and joint exhibitions that showcase the full spectrum of Khmer traditional and contemporary arts. Both parties agreed to further intensify their cultural cooperation, ensuring the continued protection and global promotion of Cambodia's rich historical identity.
