Banteay Meanchey Red Cross Branch Distributes Aid to 250 Vulnerable Families

Banteay meanchey: The Banteay Meanchey Provincial Red Cross Branch provided essential humanitarian assistance to 250 vulnerable families in O’ Chrov district this morning.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the aid distribution was led by H.E. Oum Reatrey, Governor of Banteay Meanchey province and President of the Provincial Red Cross Branch. The ceremony was held at the Sovann Selaram Pagoda (also known as Ang Sela Pagoda) in O’ Beichoan commune. Beneficiaries included 150 families from Sela Khmer village and 100 families from Tumnob Dach village.

This initiative continues the Cambodian Red Cross’ ongoing humanitarian efforts in the province. In early June, the CRC provided similar aid to 400 vulnerable families across four districts in Banteay Meanchey, including O’ Chrov, demonstrating a sustained commitment to supporting the region’s most vulnerable residents.

H.E. Oum Reatrey conveyed warm greetings and encouragement from the national leadership of the Cambodian Red Cross and the Royal Government. He underscored the organisation’s vital role in alleviating the suffering of citizens, particularly those facing hardships. He stated that the CRC, especially the Banteay Meanchey Red Cross Branch, has consistently stood by the people during times of crisis, without discrimination, in line with the motto: ‘Where there is suffering, there is the Cambodian Red Cross.’

He highlighted the compassionate leadership of Samdech Kittiprittpundit Bun Rany Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian Red Cross, who is widely recognised as the ‘Mother of Humanity.’

Mr. Keo Dara Rasmey, speaking on behalf of the local community, expressed profound gratitude to H.E. Oum Reatrey and the Provincial Red Cross Branch for their generosity. He noted that the donations are not only material support to ease the burdens of daily life, but also a source of great encouragement, reflecting the warmth of the leaders towards the people. He urged his fellow beneficiaries to use the donations properly and to continue cooperating with local authorities.

Beyond the material aid, H.E. Oum Reatrey also took the opportunity to remind citizens to prioritise their health during the rainy season to prevent communicable diseases like dengue fever. He encouraged the community to actively practice the ‘3 Don’ts, 3 Protections’ principle as a key measure for community health protection.

The beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the timely support. Ms. Yoeun Sreynich, 45, from Sela Khmer village, said that she is truly grateful to the Red Cross and that the rice and food supplies have really helped her family in this difficult rainy season. Similarly, Mr. Nat Sokhom, 57, from Tumnob Dach village, stated that he prays for the leaders to have good health and to continue supporting citizens in hardship. He acknowledged this assistance as an important driving force to carry on with daily lives.
