Austrian Ambassador Concludes Diplomatic Tenure in Cambodia

Phnom penh: H.E. Mrs. Eat Sophea, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received H.E. Wihelm Maximilian Donko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Austria to the Kingdom of Cambodia, with residence in Bangkok, for a farewell call at the Ministry on Nov. 17.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, during the farewell meeting, the Acting Minister expressed gratitude to Ambassador Donko for his role in strengthening Cambodia-Austria relations. She acknowledged Austria’s support in areas such as demining and human resources development. The two diplomats discussed potential avenues for further cooperation between Cambodia and Austria in both bilateral and multilateral contexts.

The conversation also included discussions on enhancing trade and investment links between the two countries. Ambassador Donko commended Cambodia’s advancements in recent years.

H.E. Mrs. Eat Sophea also updated Ambassador Donko on recent developments at the Cambodia-Thailand border, particularly the enactment of the Joint Declaration signed by the Prime Ministers of Cambodia and Thailand on Oct. 26, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur.
