Pursat: The Cambodian Liaison Group (CLG) on Saturday facilitated a field mission for the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT), led by the Head of Mission under the Philippine Chairmanship, to observe, verify, and report on the border situation at Steung Me Teuk Bridge in Thmar Da commune, Veal Veng district, Pursat province. According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the mission took place at 8:30 a.m. and formed part of ongoing efforts to monitor developments in areas affected by the Cambodia-Thailand border situation. The Ministry of National Defence's spokeswoman released a statement regarding the visit. The Ministry noted that Steung Me Teuk Bridge had been destroyed following an airstrike carried out by Thai Air Force fighter jets on Dec. 13, 2025. It stated that the bridge was civilian infrastructure located dozens of kilometres from the Cambodia-Thailand border. The visit enabled the AOT to assess conditions on the ground as part of its mandate to observe and report on developments related to the implementation of ceasefire and peace arrangements. The Royal Government and the Ministry of National Defence reaffirmed Cambodia's commitment to fully and faithfully implement the Joint Statement of the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) signed on Dec. 27, 2025, as well as the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand of Oct. 26, 2025. Cambodia also reiterated its commitment to all relevant agreements aimed at supporting recovery efforts, restoring normalcy, and maintaining lasting peace and stability. The spokeswoman emphasised that these commitments reflect Cambodia's continued support for peaceful solutions and confidence-building measures.
