Beijing: China and Jordan should further deepen the alignment of development strategies, Chinese President Xi Jinping stated during talks with King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Beijing.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Xi emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in traditional fields such as economy and trade, infrastructure construction, transportation, and mining. He also highlighted the need to explore new areas of collaboration in the digital economy, artificial intelligence, and green energy. Additionally, Xi called for comprehensive exchanges in education, culture, science and technology, and tourism.
In 2015, the two nations established a strategic partnership, marking a new chapter in their bilateral relations. Xi noted that amidst a complex international and regional landscape, a more dynamic China-Jordan relationship aligns with the aspirations of both peoples and supports the Global South's pursuit of unity and strength.
Xi expressed China's commitment to supporting Jordan's national sovereignty, security, and development interests. He underscored the significance of maintaining close exchanges across various levels, including governments, political parties, and legislative bodies, to share governance experiences.
China and Jordan aim to implement four major global initiatives and enhance cooperation within multilateral institutions like the United Nations. Both countries are committed to safeguarding the international system with the UN at its core and promoting a community with a shared future for humanity, Xi added.
King Abdullah II praised the strong strategic partnership between Jordan and China, citing fruitful cooperation across multiple sectors. He reiterated Jordan's firm support for the one-China policy and its recognition of Taiwan as part of China's territory.
Jordan is keen to expand cooperation in areas such as economy and trade, manufacturing, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, culture, and education. King Abdullah II expressed Jordan's eagerness to attract more Chinese enterprises for mutual development and prosperity.
The King lauded the four global initiatives proposed by President Xi and anticipated China's enhanced leadership on the global stage. Following their discussions, Xi and King Abdullah II attended a signing ceremony for multiple cooperation documents in diplomacy, economy and trade, industrial and supply chains, and justice sectors. They also issued a joint statement on strengthening the strategic partnership between China and Jordan.
Prior to the formal talks, President Xi hosted a welcome ceremony and banquet for King Abdullah II at the Great Hall of the People.
