Senate President Calls for Enhanced Cambodia-Laos Cooperation in Trade and Politics

Phnom penh: Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has called for Cambodia and Laos to continue strengthening and expanding their cooperation in trade, investment, and political relations. This call aligns with the long-standing friendly ties between the two countries.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the remarks were conveyed by H.E. Chea Thyrith, Spokesperson of the Senate, following a courtesy and farewell call paid by H.E. Buakeo Phumvongsay, Ambassador of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to Cambodia. The ambassador's diplomatic mission has concluded, and the meeting took place at the Solidarity Palace in Phnom Penh this morning.

During the meeting, Samdech Techo appreciated the ambassador's diplomatic mission in Cambodia, noting that his efforts had significantly contributed to strengthening and expanding relations between the two neighboring countries.

H.E. Buakeo Phumvongsay described Cambodia as his 'second home,' reflecting on the memories he built during his four-year tenure as Lao ambassador to Cambodia. He highlighted the progress made in bilateral relations during his term, emphasizing the enhancement of cooperation and the continued exchange of high-level visits between leaders of the two countries.

Samdech Techo expressed satisfaction with the strong and friendly relations between Cambodia and Laos, welcoming the ambassador's remarks, particularly regarding leadership visits' role in strengthening bilateral ties. He reiterated his call for both countries to intensify efforts to expand cooperation in trade, investment, economic development, and political relations, in accordance with the close and enduring friendship between Cambodia and Laos.
