Phnom penh: The Ministry of the Royal Palace has announced that His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, is currently undergoing careful medical examination and assessment by a team of specialist doctors at a hospital in Beijing, China.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, a statement issued by the Ministry on Saturday revealed that doctors at the Beijing hospital recommended surgical treatment as part of the King's medical care.
His Majesty has agreed to proceed with the surgery, which is scheduled to begin on April 18, 2026, at the Beijing hospital. Following the operation, the King will remain in Beijing for a period of recovery and continued medical observation in accordance with doctors' recommendations.
The statement added that His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni and Her Majesty Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk will return to Cambodia after the King's health has improved and once medical specialists approve his travel.
