Omicron Patients Allowed for Home Treatment

Patients with Omicron COVID-19 variant are now allowed to receive care and treatment service at home.

This was announced this evening by Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen in a special voice message.

Even though Omicron is known to be the fastest-spreading variant, it is not as dangerous as Delta and Alpha, explained the Premier.

For foreigners infected with Omicron, he said, it depends on them, they can choose to be treated at hotel or embassy or at their selected places. They are not required to be admitted to the hospital anymore.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen added that Cambodian nationals, both inside the country and from abroad, are authorised for home treatment, while the formalities and procedures are the same as in the case of Delta and Alpha.

For patients being hospitalised, regardless of their nationality, they can be transferred home for care and treatment if they wish to do so, he continued.

This new order comes into force from now on, Samdech Techo Prime Minister underlined.

Cambodia has so far registered 120,956 confirmed cases of COVID-19, of which 503 are of Omicron variant (152 Omicron community cases).
