New Saudi Ambassador Vows to Enhance Cambodia-Saudi Arabia Relations

Phnom penh: Newly appointed Saudi Ambassador to Cambodia, H.E. Thamer Mohammed A. Algosaibi, has pledged to work towards further strengthening and elevating bilateral relations and cooperation between Cambodia and Saudi Arabia during his diplomatic tenure. The commitment was made during his courtesy call and working discussion with Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, during the meeting, H.E. Thamer Mohammed A. Algosaibi praised the progress of relations and cooperation between the two countries across various fields. He outlined two key diplomatic priorities for further strengthening bilateral cooperation: promoting exchanges of visits by leaders and officials at all levels, and strengthening links between the private sectors of the two countries.

The Ambassador highlighted plans for a Saudi business delegation to visit Cambodia in the near future to explore trade and investment opportunities. In response, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet congratulated H.E. Thamer Mohammed A. Algosaibi on his appointment and expressed confidence in his diplomatic tenure's potential to advance bilateral relations.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the Royal Government of the 7th Legislature of the National Assembly is pursuing a policy of economic diversification through engagement with countries worldwide, including Saudi Arabia. He noted that investment in Cambodia not only serves the domestic market but also offers opportunities for investors to benefit from various free trade agreements Cambodia has with regional and international partners.

The two sides also discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in areas such as the economy, trade, investment, tourism, agriculture, technology, and artificial intelligence (AI). Samdech Thipadei encouraged the Ambassador to work closely with relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions to identify additional opportunities for joint cooperation and advance bilateral relations in the future.
