MISTI Strengthens Industrial Safety Standards for Factories, Enterprises

Phnom penh: The Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (MISTI), in collaboration with Te Zhong Shebei Jiance Yanjiu Yuan Cambodia Co., Ltd., organised a dissemination workshop on the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on the certification of technical standards and safety for high-risk equipment and machinery used in factories and handicrafts.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the workshop, which took place in Phnom Penh on May 18, was presided over by H.E. Dr. Tung Ciny, Secretary of State at MISTI. The event saw the participation of more than 300 attendees from MISTI, provincial Departments of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, as well as representatives from business associations, factories, and handicrafts.

The primary goal of the workshop was to enhance awareness and implementation of technical and industrial safety management for equipment such as boilers, high-pressure vessels, and other high-risk machinery used in factories and handicraft enterprises. This is in line with the Law on the Management of Factories and Handicrafts.

The event also aimed to encourage factory and handicraft owners, managers, installers, operators, and relevant stakeholders to pay increased attention to safety and the responsible use of industrial equipment.

H.E. Tung Ciny highlighted that strengthening industrial standards and safety is crucial for improving productivity, protecting workers' and employees' safety, and enhancing the competitiveness of Cambodia's industrial sector. This aligns with international standards and market requirements, especially as Cambodia prepares for graduation from Least Developed Country (LDC) status.
