Phnom penh: The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology has issued a warning about the potential impact of Tropical Storm Kujira and Typhoon Dolphin on Cambodia's weather. Although neither storm is expected to make landfall, their combined influence will intensify the southwest monsoon, leading to widespread rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds across the country from August 5 to 15.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the announcement specifies that lowland provinces such as Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, and Phnom Penh, among others, could experience rainfall covering approximately 50 percent of their areas. Highland regions, including Kampong Speu, Pailin, and the Dangrek and Cardamom mountain ranges, may see rain over 60 percent of their areas, with additional threats of thunderstorms and strong winds.

Coastal provinces like Koh Kong and Preah Sihanouk are predicted to receive the most significant rainfall, affecting up to 70 percent of their areas. The Ministry warns that sea waves in these regions could reach heights of 0.5 to 1.75 meters.

The Ministry has urged the public, particularly travelers by land or sea, to stay cautious of the severe weather conditions. It also assured that it will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates if there are any changes.
