Rabat: The National Rally of Independents (RNI) has maintained its electoral clout and its position among the leading political forces on the national party scene, after five years in government, party president Mohamed Chouki emphasized Thursday in Rabat.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, In a statement to the press following the announcement of the provisional results of the September 23 legislative elections, Chouki stated that "voters' trust in the party is both a responsibility and a burden," noting that the RNI's standing cannot be reduced to an electoral ranking but is a wealth of political, governmental, and organizational experience, as well as a political agenda that the party will continue to defend and develop as a significant and responsible force.

The RNI navigated these elections amid a series of challenges, he continued, adding that the results show a decline compared to the previous election and noting in this regard "that we must not downplay the significance of this decline or seek excuses."

In this regard, Chouki stated that the party will not view its results with complacency, but will engage in a calm and serious debate within its governing bodies to objectively assess its political, governmental, and communications experience, noting that "a strong party listens, reviews, corrects, and heeds the messages of citizens in order to refresh its ideas and leadership."

Regarding the debate on government alliances and the next political step, the RNI president explained that these issues will be examined within the relevant bodies, in accordance with organizational procedures and national interests.

The RNI, which led the governing coalition following the 2021 elections, came in second in the September 23 legislative elections with 66 seats, according to preliminary results.
