Labour Ministry and UNDP Collaborate on Pension Fund Transparency

Phnom penh: H.E. Heng Sour, the Cambodian Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, engaged in a strategic meeting with Mr. Enrico Gaveglia, the UNDP Resident Representative to Cambodia, to review progress on two key initiatives promoting transparency in pension fund management and sustainable investment for workers.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the meeting underscored a shared commitment to enhancing the management of Cambodia's pension funds. Both parties prioritized sustainable investment strategies, aiming to ensure financial security for Cambodian workers. H.E. Heng Sour expressed his appreciation for the UNDP's cooperation with the Royal Government of Cambodia, focusing on critical areas such as labour, social security, and vocational training.

The minister updated Mr. Gaveglia on the progress of Cambodia's social security schemes, stressing the importance of cautious and precise fund management. Mr. Gaveglia acknowledged the Royal Government's clear vision and the Ministry's efforts, offering UNDP's technical support through its global network of policy experts. This includes designing financial instruments to link national resources with reliable investment opportunities.

Furthermore, both parties agreed to leverage advanced technology to enhance financial oversight and to conduct studies identifying safe investment options consistent with international standards.
