Phnom Penh:His Majesty Preah Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, has emphasized the cultural and familial importance of the Kan Ben and Pchum Ben festivals, which are long-standing national celebrations observed by Cambodians annually since ancient times.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the King expressed his pleasure in a recent Royal Message, joining the Cambodian people in celebrating the festivals, which are scheduled for observation this year from September 27 to October 11.

His Majesty noted that these festivals are deeply significant to Cambodians, offering them the chance to return to their hometowns, reunite with family members, and engage in religious ceremonies at homes and pagodas. The festivals also serve as a time for showing gratitude and respect towards parents, ancestors, and benefactors, as well as dedicating merit to deceased relatives.

The King praised the solidarity and unity demonstrated by Cambodians during these celebrations and highlighted their dedication to preserving Cambodian culture. He stressed the importance of maintaining these traditions for future generations to ensure the cultural heritage of the nation is preserved.

On the occasion of Kan Ben and Pchum Ben, His Majesty urged all Cambodians to continue to protect and promote national traditions and cultural heritage, thereby strengthening national unity. He also encouraged collective efforts towards maintaining peace, social stability, and the nation's prosperity.
