Kampong cham: More than 4.17 million people flooded Kampong Cham province during the three-day Khmer New Year celebrations - nearly 1.4 million visitors per day - catapulting the province into a top-tier cultural hotspot, official data released Friday shows.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the provincial Department of Tourism reported 4,178,623 visitors from April 14-16, including 300 international travellers. The "Sankranta Kampong Cham" festivities drove the surge, with the signature "Dried Clam" event in Kampong Cham city alone attracting over 2 million participants.
District-level celebrations, local resorts, and pagodas added another 960,000+ visitors, underscoring the province's rapid rise as a premier destination for Cambodia's most important annual holiday.
