The historical experiences of Hiroshima and Nagasaki have reinforced Japan's dedication to peace, stability, and respect for international rules, which form the foundation of its contemporary diplomacy. Japan's Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP) vision is often viewed through the lens of great-power competition, especially between the United States and China.
