Phnom penh: Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation H.E. Hem Vanndy has urged the American Cambodian Business Chamber (ACBC) to facilitate connections between capable Cambodian manufacturers and U.S. buyers, emphasizing the need for improved understanding of market requirements, standards, and commercial demand.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, during a meeting with an ACBC business delegation led by its founder and president, Ms. Sokveasna Chan, Minister Vanndy highlighted opportunities for Cambodia to expand its exports to the United States beyond traditional sectors, specifically in areas like furniture, agro-processing, and other value-added products. He acknowledged that while some Cambodian products are ready for export, producers often struggle with scaling to meet the demands of large buyers, and smaller enterprises require additional support to comply with U.S. technical, packaging, and market-entry standards.

Minister Vanndy emphasized the need for a focused approach, advocating for the selection of capable enterprises and products with potential, followed by collaborative efforts to meet U.S. market requirements. He encouraged ACBC to act as a bridge by identifying buyers, aggregating demand, and providing detailed information on specifications, standards, and order volumes, which would in turn boost the confidence of Cambodian manufacturers to expand their production capacity.

ACBC expressed its readiness to collaborate with MISTI, offering Cambodian manufacturers insights into U.S. market-entry requirements through technical briefings, workshops, and interactions with relevant U.S. agencies and experts. Both parties also discussed the importance of long-term cooperation in areas such as food safety, packaging, standards and certification, technology transfer, and industrial modernization. They emphasized the need to enhance domestic value addition, support industries, and improve the competitiveness of Cambodian SMEs.
