Phnom penh: H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), met with H.E. Steven Pang Chee Wee, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Singapore to the Kingdom of Cambodia, for a courtesy call and working discussion.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, during the meeting, Ambassador Pang highlighted the enduring diplomatic relations and cooperation between Cambodia and Singapore, which have been cultivated since the reign of His Majesty the Late King-Father Samdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk. The Ambassador detailed his visits to key Cambodian provinces, such as Preah Sihanouk, to assess port infrastructure potential and Koh Kong province to observe wildlife conservation and biodiversity tourism development.
Ambassador Pang commended Cambodia's commitment to combating online scams, emphasizing the need for regional cooperation to address this global issue. In response, Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol welcomed the Ambassador and acknowledged Singapore as a strategic partner with long-standing professional ties.
Deputy Prime Minister Sun provided updates on Cambodia's socio-economic development, focusing on enhancing logistics and transportation, and optimizing internal operations within the CDC. He also encouraged further investment from Singapore, particularly in the Halal Food Processing industry, due to its regional and global market potential.
Expressing gratitude, H.E. Sun Chanthol thanked Singapore for its continued support in human capital development through the Lee Kuan Yew Scholarship, which contributes to Cambodia's economic growth. Both parties expressed confidence that under Ambassador Pang's mission, Cambodia and Singapore's cooperation will advance significantly, benefiting trade, investment, and infrastructure connectivity.
