Phnom penh: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence H.E. Gen. Tea Seiha has rejected reports circulated by certain Thai media outlets and individuals alleging that Cambodia has refused bilateral mechanisms and is increasing troop and weapons deployments to provoke conflict. According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Gen. Tea Seiha issued a statement this morning addressing the claims from some media and commentators in Thailand. He noted that there were attempts to spread misinformation suggesting that Cambodia's Ministry of National Defence was abandoning bilateral approaches and preparing for war. He firmly dismissed these allegations, emphasizing that Cambodia remains committed to resolving all issues through peaceful means. H.E. Gen. Tea Seiha stressed Cambodia's dedication to respecting and implementing the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement (KL Accord), signed in Kuala Lumpur on Oct. 26, 2025, the Joint Statement of the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) dated Dec. 27, 2025, and all other existing bilateral mechanisms. He reaffirmed that Cambodia supports dialogue and the peaceful settlement of differences in accordance with these agreements and established cooperation frameworks. The Defence Minister further highlighted Cambodia's focus on maintaining peace, stability, and constructive engagement between the two neighbouring countries. H.E. Gen. Tea Seiha expressed hope that both sides would continue to address all outstanding issues peacefully and avoid any actions involving the use of force.
