China Applauds Cambodia’s Pilot Visa-Free Entry for Chinese Nationals

Phnom penh: Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Wang Wenbin has welcomed the Royal Government of Cambodia’s announcement of a pilot visa exemption programme for Chinese nationals travelling from China for a four-month period in 2026. ‘We welcome the trial visa exemption for Chinese citizens from June 15 to October 15, 2026 announced by the Royal Government of Cambodia,’ he said in a Facebook post on Wednesday. The implementation of this policy will undoubtedly make the “China-Cambodia Tourism Year” even more fruitful and further deepen tourism cooperation between China and Cambodia, H.E. Ambassador underlined.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Ministry of Tourism’s announcement released yesterday states that the pilot policy will allow Chinese tourists to stay in Cambodia for up to 14 days during the period from June 15 to Oct. 15, 2026, without requiring a visa application or any fees. Chinese visitors will only need to complete an e-arrival card and may enter Cambodia multiple times during the pilot period.

Official data shows that Cambodia welcomed some 889,000 Chinese tourists in the first nine months of this year, an increase of 46.3 percent compared to the same period last year. They accounted for 20.3 percent of the total 4.37 million foreign arrivals to Cambodia during the period.
