Celebration of Cambodian Pchum Ben Festival in South Korea Draws Large Crowd

Uijeongbu:More than 1,500 Cambodian migrant workers and members of the diaspora residing in South Korea gathered on October 3 for a celebration of Pchum Ben, Cambodia's traditional ancestors' day festival.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the event was attended by H.E. Seng Sakada, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, representing Minister H.E. Heng Sour, along with H.E. Khuon Phon Rattanak, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Cambodia to the Republic of Korea.

The Uijeongbu Volunteer Cambodian Community organized the gathering to dedicate merit to ancestors, fallen Cambodian soldiers, and the deceased, while fostering unity among Cambodians living abroad. The strong turnout underscored the community's commitment to preserving Cambodian cultural identity and traditions while strengthening solidarity and bonds within the community in South Korea.

During the event, Secretary of State H.E. Seng Sakada extended greetings from Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet to the diaspora and workers. He encouraged Cambodian workers to continue their dedication to work while observing local laws, workplace regulations, and customs to honor the Cambodian people and nation.
