Phnom penh: Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet departed this morning for an official working visit to China from July 15 to 17, with a key focus on attending the 2026 World AI Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai. The visit is themed around 'AI Partnership for a Brighter Future.'
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Prime Minister's visit aims to strengthen the Cambodia-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Cooperation, promote the "Diamond Cooperation Framework," and enhance the building of a Cambodia-China Community with a Shared Future in the New Era. The Prime Minister's departure was marked by a formal send-off at Techo International Airport in Kandal province by senior Royal Government officials and Chinese diplomatic representatives.
During the three-day visit, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet is scheduled to meet with Chinese President H.E. Xi Jinping and hold bilateral talks with Premier H.E. Li Qiang. The discussions are set to focus on deepening the longstanding friendship between the two nations and expanding areas of mutual cooperation.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will engage with leading figures from the Chinese business community to explore new trade and investment opportunities. This aspect of the visit underscores the commitment to fostering economic collaboration between Cambodia and China.
Accompanying the Prime Minister is a prominent delegation of senior Royal Government officials and private sector leaders, including H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia; and H.E. Tea Seiha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, among other ministers, senior officials, and representatives of the Cambodian business community.
