Cambodian PM Travels to the Philippines for ASEAN Summit

Phnom penh: A high-level Cambodian delegation led by Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and First Lady, Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony Hun Manet, departed this morning for the 48th ASEAN Summit in the Philippines. This visit is in response to an invitation from H.E. Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., President of the Republic of the Philippines, who will serve as the Chair of ASEAN in 2026. According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the delegation was seen off at Techo International Airport by deputy prime ministers, ministers, and many other high-ranking officials. The 48th ASEAN Summit, scheduled for May 7-8 in Cebu, carries the theme "Navigating Our Future, Together." The summit will offer a platform for ASEAN leaders to discuss critical issues associated with ASEAN Community Building and the Way Forward. The focus will be on ensuring regional energy security and resilience, stabilising food security, and ensuring the safety of ASEAN nationals. Additionally, leaders will exchange views on regional an d international issues, aiming to foster a peaceful, prosperous, inclusive, and resilient future. On the sidelines of the summit, Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister is also expected to engage in bilateral meetings with ASEAN counterparts to further deepen mutually beneficial cooperation and shared interests.
