Gumi: The Royal Embassy of the Kingdom of Cambodia in South Korea hosted a celebration for the Khmer New Year at the Khmer Gumi Temple, uniting the expatriate community to honor national traditions and foster cultural ties.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the event took place on Sunday, April 19, and was attended by H.E. Khuon Phon Rattanak, Ambassador of Cambodia to the Republic of Korea, along with embassy staff and representatives from the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training and the ESEA working group. Local authorities from Gyeongsangbuk-do Province supported the festivities, which drew an estimated 1,200 members of the Cambodian community living and working in South Korea.

The celebration followed Khmer cultural customs, featuring traditional religious ceremonies such as the offering of alms to Buddhist monks, the bathing of Buddha statues, and the building of sand mountains.

A memorial service was also part of the festivities, held to pay tribute to the fallen heroes of the Cambodian armed forces who sacrificed their lives on the battlefield to protect the nation's peace and sovereignty.
