Cambodian Delegation Observes Russian Election as Fair and Open

Moscow:A delegation from the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) reported that Russia's ninth-convocation State Duma election was conducted in a fair and open manner, in compliance with the country's laws and regulations.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the CPP delegation included members from the Senate and National Assembly, as well as officials from the Foreign Relations Commission of the CPP Central Committee. They observed the election process over three days, from September 18 to 20, 2026, in the Russian Federation.

During their visit, the delegation monitored activities at five polling stations in Moscow and engaged directly with representatives of the election commissions. Their observations affirmed that the election was organized transparently and in accordance with Russian legal standards.

Additionally, the delegation attended briefings by the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation, gaining insights into the country's electoral laws and system. The three-day voting period enabled citizens, including those in remote areas and living abroad, to participate through various mechanisms.

Ten political parties contested the election, including United Russia, the Liberal Democratic Party, and the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, among others. The CPP emphasized that its involvement in election observation underscores its commitment to promoting democratic values and voters' rights globally.

The Cambodian People's Party also extended congratulations to the Russian populace for the successful election process and to the United Russia Party for securing a majority of votes.
