Phnom penh: The Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia has strongly rejected reports by certain Thai media outlets alleging that Cambodian forces fired 11 rounds at the O'Smach International Border Checkpoint in Oddar Meanchey province. According to a statement released on Wednesday evening by H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman for the Ministry of National Defence, the reports published on May 13, 2026, are false and seriously distort the facts.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Spokeswoman for the Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia categorically denies these allegations, confirming that they constitute false information and a serious distortion of the truth. The statement emphasized that the reports are baseless and do not reflect the actual situation at the border.
Cambodia has reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace, stability, and good order along the border with Thailand in accordance with existing agreements and through peaceful cooperation mechanisms. The Ministry reaffirmed its dedication to resolving any border issues through diplomatic means and emphasized the importance of accurate information in maintaining bilateral relations.
