Cambodia to Establish Official Websites for Municipal and Provincial Information Departments

Phnom penh: Cambodia's Ministry of Information will establish official websites for all 25 municipal and provincial information departments, a move aimed at boosting the dissemination of official news and building a unified national database, according to Information Minister H.E. Neth Pheaktra.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Minister H.E. Neth Pheaktra made the announcement during the closing ceremony of a two-day training course on 'Website Usage and Protection.' He highlighted that the new digital platforms will serve as secure repositories for local departments to store documents, news, and data. This initiative is part of a national effort to centralize data management, streamline information flow, and ensure easy access throughout the country.

Minister Neth Pheaktra emphasized that developing these websites represents a significant step toward adopting digital technology and modernizing Cambodia's official media framework. The goal is to make media operations more timely, rapid, and effective. The minister also indicated that the websites would become the primary official channels for broadcasting news, public announcements, government activities, and public services directly to citizens.

The training session, conducted at the Ministry's Media Training Centre, was attended by 112 information officials from both central and provincial levels. H.E. Neth Pheaktra encouraged provincial offices to develop robust websites to establish a secure digital presence, noting the importance of these platforms as vital data warehouses that guarantee both security and accessibility.
