Cambodia Seeks Cooperation on Meteorological Development with Finland

Phnom penh: Cambodian Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology H.E. Thor Chetha, led a delegation to visit the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) in Helsinki, Finland, on July 29, seeking cooperation on meteorological development with Finland.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Thor Chetha and his delegation held discussions with Mr. Harri Pietarila, Director of Technical Services, and the FMI technical team to learn from Finland's experience in meteorological science, operational forecasting, digital innovation, and institutional development.

The meeting focused particularly on how FMI applies advanced technologies in scientific research and operational services to deliver accurate and reliable weather and climate information, thereby supporting government decision-making and enhancing public safety.

The Minister expressed confidence that the institute could support Cambodia's long-term meteorological development through technical cooperation and capacity building.
