Phnom penh: H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism of Cambodia, presided over and delivered opening remarks at the 'Cambodia-Haikou Cultural and Tourism Exchange Day 2026,' held under the framework of the Cambodia-China Tourism Year. The event took place on May 22 in Haikou City, Hainan Province, China, with notable attendees including Ms. Tong Guichang, Vice Mayor of Haikou City, Mr. Iv Sokhom, Consul General of Cambodia in Hainan Province, representatives from the Hainan Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, tourism company executives, and over 200 members of the public in Haikou City.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Huot Hak emphasized Cambodia's pilot visa exemption policy for Chinese citizens from June 15 to October 15, 2026, and the 'Visit Cambodia in the Green Season' campaign. This initiative offers special promotions on accommodation, food, and tourism services, aiming to attract more visitors from China to Cambodia.
The event also included vibrant cultural and artistic performances by Cambodian and Chinese artists. Among the highlights were the 'Romduol Bopha Cheat' and 'Hainan Coconut Shell Dance,' as well as the 'Charm of the Green Season,' a 'Lion Dance' performance, and a presentation on 'The Benefits of the Khmer Krama.' These performances highlighted the rich cultural identities of both nations and contributed to strengthening cooperation, mutual understanding, and the longstanding friendship between Cambodia and China.
