Cambodia and UK’s AQA Forge Partnership to Enhance Vocational Training

Phnom Penh:The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (MLVT) of Cambodia has partnered with AQA Global Assessment Services from the United Kingdom by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at improving technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in Cambodia.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, this agreement was formalized during a meeting between H.E. Heng Sour, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, and Mr. Shaun Crowley, Director of International Affairs of AQA Global Assessment Services, at the Ministry on September 29.

The discussion centered on enhancing TVET development through the creation of training standards packages, assessment and quality assurance improvements, and establishing networks between TVET institutions in Cambodia and the UK. H.E. Heng Sour expressed his appreciation for AQA's commitment, highlighting the partnership as a significant step in strengthening Cambodia's TVET sector and bilateral relations with the UK.

The Minister emphasized the importance of the UK€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¾¢s expertise in raising TVET quality and skills standards in Cambodia, which would boost confidence among the public and employers regarding skills gained through TVET programs. He also expressed optimism that ongoing dialogue would lead to concrete actions benefiting both parties and showed readiness to explore further areas of cooperation.

Mr. Shaun Crowley expressed gratitude for the discussions and described the MoU signing as an important milestone for collaboration. He highlighted the areas of standards development, qualification development, and capacity building as key fields where AQA could lend its support, drawing from its international experience.
