Phnom penh: Cambodian and Thai military officials convened for an informal meeting at the Secretariat of the Cambodia-Thailand Regional Border Committee (RBC) on Thursday. The discussions centered around implementing existing border peace agreements and enhancing local coordination efforts.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the meeting, held at 11:00 a.m. at the Choam-Sa Ngam International Border Checkpoint in Anlong Veng district, Oddar Meanchey province, was attended by representatives from both countries. The Cambodian delegation was led by Brigadier General Nith Narong, while the Thai delegation was headed by Major General Kampanat Waphansu.
The primary focus of the talks was on the implementation of the Joint Statement from the 3rd Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC), signed on December 27, 2025. Efforts to enhance informal operational coordination and streamline local conflict resolution mechanisms between Cambodia's Military Region 4 and Thailand's Army Area 2 were also discussed.
Cambodia's Ministry of National Defence reiterated its commitment to respecting and implementing all bilateral agreements, including the December 2025 Joint Statement and the October 2025 Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement. The Ministry emphasized its dedication to achieving a peaceful and lasting solution in alignment with international law and existing treaties between Cambodia and Thailand.
