Cambodia and Russia Seek to Enhance Bilateral Cooperation in Multiple Sectors

Phnom penh: H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, welcomed H.E. Andrey Rudenko, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, at the Ministry on Monday morning.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Andrey Rudenko's visit to Cambodia is to co-chair the Third Session of the Cambodia-Russia Bilateral Political Consultations. The meeting focused on strengthening the longstanding relationship between Cambodia and Russia, with discussions on various areas of mutual interest.

H.E. Prak Sokhonn highlighted the successful meeting between Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Kazan, Russia, on June 18, 2026. The Deputy Prime Minister also noted his recent discussions with H.E. Ms. Oksana Lut, Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, and H.E. Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

The discussions emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in key areas such as politics, trade and investment, and cultural exchanges. Both officials explored opportunities to work together more closely within regional and international organizations, including the United Nations.

The meeting was particularly significant as it coincided with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Russia, marking a milestone in their bilateral relations.
