Phnom Penh:Cambodia and Japan have formalized an agreement to bolster Cambodia's ability to produce, update, and distribute Electronic Nautical Charts (ENCs), a move aimed at improving navigation safety.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Record of Discussions was signed at the Ministry of Public Works and Transport headquarters on the morning of September 30, with Minister H.E. Peng Ponea presiding over the ceremony. This agreement finalizes the detailed project plan and implementation framework under the technical cooperation agreement previously established between the two nations.
The signing ceremony also highlighted the mutual commitment of both countries to advance the project. Minister Peng Ponea expressed his gratitude to the Japanese government for its ongoing support in Cambodia's inland waterway, maritime, and port sectors. He emphasized the importance of coordination among relevant institutions, enhancing the capabilities of Cambodian technical officials, and adhering to international standards to ensure the project's long-term success.
