Cambodia and China Strengthen Ties Through Student Exchange Programme, Says Education Minister

Phnom penh: Cambodian Minister of Education, Youth and Sport H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron has praised a Chinese student exchange programme as a vital bridge for strengthening ties between the two nations' youth, emphasising mutual learning and cultural respect.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, during a meeting with a 40-member delegation from China's 2026 Guizhou Student Exchange Programme, H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, who also serves as Deputy Prime Minister, stated that the initiative offers Chinese students a firsthand look at Cambodia's history, civilisation, and diverse arts, broadening perspectives beyond the classroom.

The delegation, led by Dr. Sor Rithy, President of the Cambodia-ASEAN-China Education Promotion Cooperation Association, includes administrators and students, some from ethnic minority backgrounds, from Qiannan Normal University for Nationalities. The programme is part of the "Thousands of Outstanding Students Studying Abroad" scheme.

H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron urged working groups to deepen education and youth cooperation, highlighting the importance of these efforts for human resource development and the strengthening of the long-standing, "ironclad" friendship between Cambodia and China.

The 14-day exchange, running from June 16 to 29, features activities in Phnom Penh and the historic province of Siem Reap.
