Kratie: A delegation from the Belgian Development Cooperation (DGD) and the Belgian Ambassador to Southeast Asia have visited the Mekong Flooded Forest landscape in Kratie province to assess the progress of conservation and community development initiatives. According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the WWF-Cambodia, along with its partner FLO, hosted the visit on Wednesday, providing the delegation with a firsthand look at projects funded by the Belgian government. The visit focused on reviewing advancements in biodiversity protection, protected area management, and community livelihood programmes. The projects are designed to promote the sustainable management of natural resources in the ecologically significant region. During the visit, the delegation met with local community members and stakeholders involved in the initiatives. Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for Belgium's continued support and underscored the positive impact on their livelihoods and local conservation efforts. While reaffirming th eir commitment to safeguarding natural resources even after the current project cycle concludes, community representatives highlighted the critical need for ongoing support. They emphasised that continued assistance is essential to build long-term resilience, strengthen local ownership, and secure sustainable livelihoods for the future.
