Shenzhen: The Asia-Pacific Media Forum officially convened on Sept. 5 in Shenzhen, south China's Guangdong Province, as the country hosts a series of events under the 2026 APEC "China Year", bringing together over 400 delegates from 42 countries and regions to promote media collaboration, regional stability, and shared economic prosperity. According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the forum is themed "Building A Path to Shared Prosperity for the Asia-Pacific Community: Media Consensus and Action," and forms part of the broader 2026 APEC "China Year" events. The gathering includes representatives from over 200 mainstream media outlets, think tanks, diplomatic missions, government organs, UN agencies, and international organizations. The Cambodian delegation, led by H.E. Prak Thaveak Amida, Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Information, participated in the forum. The official opening ceremony featured welcome and keynote speeches from the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, Ms. Melissa Fl eming, Under-Secretary General for Global Communications at the United Nations, Mr. Lyu Yansong, Editor-in-Chief of Xinhua News Agency, and other senior officials from participating delegations. Keynote speakers highlighted the important role of news organizations in deepening dialogue, managing global technological changes, and connecting people across diverse economies. They also called for stronger regional cooperation, deeper communication ties, and enhanced economic partnerships. The event includes panel sessions and local tours showcasing technological and industrial achievements across major cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan, and Foshan. This forum focuses on cooperation and innovation in the Asia-Pacific region, transformations in the media industry in the intelligent era, and the opportunities and challenges brought by digital and intelligent technologies. The forum aims to establish an institutionalized and regular platform for Asia- Pacific media cooperation, promoting regional media from fragmented interactions toward institutionalized collaboration, and from experience-sharing toward joint contribution and shared development. Multiple outcomes are expected to be unveiled at the forum, under the theme of "Building a Path to Shared Prosperity for the Asia-Pacific Community: Media Consensus and Action."
