35 Foreigners Detained in Sihanoukville Hotel Raid Target Cyber Crime Ring

Preah sihanouk: Provincial Gendarmerie forces raided a 22-story hotel complex in Sihanoukville late Sunday, arresting 35 foreign nationals suspected of operating an illegal online scam network, according to local authorities.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the operation targeted the Chun Yi Hotel in Village 2, Sangkat 3, following an investigation coordinated by Deputy Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Col. Song Kosal and Deputy Prosecutor Chhay Sotra of the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Court. The raid was executed under the direction of the Provincial Unified Command.

Security forces detained 35 foreign suspects, including four women, and seized substantial electronic evidence and assets. The confiscated items included 28 desktop sets and 13 laptops, along with 55 phones linked to fraudulent activities and 40 personal handsets. Additionally, 10 passports and 3 vehicles were seized during the operation.

All suspects and confiscated items were transferred to the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Gendarmerie Headquarters for further questioning and legal processing.

Provincial authorities reiterated their commitment to maintaining a zero-tolerance crackdown on technology-based crimes to ensure public order and safeguard local residents, international tourists, and foreign investors across Sihanoukville.
