Vaccine Donation Further Strengthens Good-neighborly Cooperation between Cambodia and Lao PDR

The donation of 200,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines will further strengthen the cooperation between the two neighbouring countries – Cambodia and Lao PDR, said Lao Prime Minister H.E. Phankham Viphavanh.

In a letter dated Sept. 28 to Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, H.E. Phankham Viphavanh expressed the profound gratitude and appreciation of the Party, Government and people of Lao PDR to Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the Cambodian People’s Party, Government and people of Cambodia for the assistance and support extended to Laos over the past years, especially in a difficult time when both countries face severe COVID-19 outbreak.

Cambodia has nonetheless generously shared what it has by providing 200,000 doses of Sinovac vaccines to the Lao PDR thus contributing to helping the latter in attaining the target of 50 percent of Lao population being inoculated by year end as planned, he added.

“This invaluable assistance bears testimony of the Government’s and the Cambodian people’s genuine care and solidarity extended to the Government and the Lao people,” he said.

“It also reaffirms the cordial relations of friendship, the time-honoured solidarity and the sound good-neighbourly cooperation based on comprehensive and lasting strategic partnership between our two countries that has been increasingly enhanced and deepened into more fruition,” the Lao Premier underlined.

Cambodia on Tuesday donated 200,000 doses of Sinovac vaccines to the Lao PDR to contribute to its efforts in combating the pandemic.
