Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has advised authorities to replant trees in the seized flooded forest land surrounding the Tonle Sap Lake.
The advice was made after more than 60,000 hectares of flooded forest land had been taken back from illegal encroachment.
At the closing ceremony of the annual meeting of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries held here this afternoon, Samdech Techo Hun Sen ordered local authorities and relevant ministries and institutions to fill the encroached flooded forest land with replanted trees.
The government placed an order to crack down on the encroachment of the flooded forest land in the provinces around the Tonle Sap Lake in January. As the crackdown and seizure of encroached swamp forest land continues, the government has so far seized more than 60,000 hectares of encroached land.
