Seven More People Confirmed Positive for COVID-19

Cambodia has reported 7 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), all of Omicron variant transmitted locally, according to a press release of the Ministry of Health made public this morning.

The tally now jumped to 136,308, of which 133,206 have recovered and 3,056 have passed away.

The Kingdom began to register new cases of COVID-19 since June 29, 2022 after 52 days of zero infection.

At a get-together here this morning with the Cambodian delegation for the 11th ASEAN Para Games in Indonesia, Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen reaffirmed that Cambodia had no plan to impose COVID-19 lockdowns thanks to the country’s high vaccination rate, but urged his compatriots to get the booster doses against the pandemic.

The first COVID-19 case was reported in Cambodia in late January 2020 in Preah Sihanouk province.
