Senior Minister Sun Chanthol Attends World Economic Forum via Videoconference

H.E. Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister and Minister of Public Works and Transport, attended a World Economic Forum under the theme “Trade Recovery: Revitalising Regional Economy with a Resilient Supply Chain” via Videoconference yesterday.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister laid stress on the significance of digital platform in reduction of COVID-19 impact and effective solutions to support public and trade activities. It also helps ASEAN member states to work together to promote ASEAN as a community of single digital connectivity as well as to boost its connectivity to accelerate the socio-economic recovery.

“Cambodia has set its priority to promote digital system in the country to ensure the smooth flow of goods, services, skills, capital and data. Therefore, Cambodia needs to focus on legal and institutional cooperation to adapt to the digital revolution for trade, investment, trade facilitation, small and medium enterprises and skills development more effectively,” H.E. Sun Chanthol said.

To achieve a vision toward regional digital economy, he underlined, Cambodia has committed to carry out ASYCUDA (Automated System for Customs Data), Port EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) connection with ASYCUDA to effectively ease transport and trade; has endorsed the law on e-commerce; put into use online trade registration, ASEAN Single Window; and officially launched Cambodia Digital Economy and Social Policy Framework 2021-2035.
