Republic of Korea’s Key Role in Cambodia’s Development Acknowledged

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance spoke highly of the contribution of the Republic of Korea to Cambodia’s development and encouraged more Korean investors to the Kingdom.

H.E. Aun Porn Moniroth, the Deputy Prime Minister, expressed the appreciation when receiving visiting Minister of Government Policy Coordination at the Prime Minister’s office of the Republic of Korea, H.E. Koo Yun-cheol, at the ministry here in Phnom Penh on Tuesday.

According to H.E. Aun Porn Moniroth, the Government of the Republic of Korea has committed more concessional package through a new Framework Arrangement of approximately US$1.2 billion for 2022 to 2026.

The two countries will discuss priority projects for the implementation of the new Framework Arrangement under the 4th Korea-Cambodia Integrated ODA Policy Dialogue.

He also thanked the Government of the Republic of Korea for supporting the Cambodia-Korea Friendship Bridge project, which will be a symbol of blossoming friendship between the two friends.

The Deputy Prime Minister updated his guest on the need for investment in Cambodia’s key areas, such as green infrastructure, agriculture, tourism, logistics and digital industry significant to boost Cambodia’s economic growth.

H.E. Koo Yun-cheol shared his note on Cambodia’s rapid growth and effective measures to contain COVID-19 for the country’s recovery and reconfirmed RoK’s commitment to further support the development of Cambodia.

Since 1996, the RoK has provided about US$431 million in grants to Cambodia, and since 2000 it has given US$1,211 million worth concessional loans for 26 development projects in Cambodia.
