Prey Veng becomes the second Cambodian province without landmine by this year under the support from the American Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (AmCham), after Kep province.

The declaration of Prey Veng as a mine-free province took place here on May 12 under the presidency of H.E. Ly Thuch, Senior Minister and First Vice President of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA).

Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Ly Thuch on behalf of the Royal Government deeply appreciated the effort of concerned provincial authorities to reach the achievement.

H.E. Senior Minister also expressed his gratitude to the donors and friendly countries, including the U.S., UK, Japan, Australia, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, China, Canada, New Zealand, the Republic of Korea, Ireland, Hungary, UNDP and UNICEF as well as other partners for their financial, material and technical support for humanitarian mine clearance operations in Cambodia.
