Preah Sihanouk Province Remains the Most Visited Destination for Domestic Tourists

Preah Sihanouk coastal province remained the most attractive destination among domestic tourists in the past three weekends, according to the Ministry of Tourism.

A total of 222,527 domestic visitors were recorded in the second weekend of December, of them 216,709 were Cambodians and 5,818 were foreigners.

The figure represents an increase by 22.93 percent compared to the previous weekend.

The other nine most popular tourism destinations during the 2nd weekend of December included Phnom Penh capital and the provinces of Kampot, Kampong Speu, Pursat, Siem Reap, Battambang, Kep, and Mondulkiri.

All provincial and municipal administrations and tourism departments have been actively promoting and implementing the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) introduced by the Ministry of Tourism to ensure the operation of tourism-related businesses in the new normal.

H.E. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism, encouraged the private sector and tour operators to continue improving their services, especially for the upcoming end of year holidays.
