Policy to Support Effective Use of Electric Vehicles Discussed

Cambodia has discussed a cost-effective use of electric vehicles (EV) in the country to reduce pollution and greenhouse effect.

The discussion was organised recently by Energylab in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Works and Transport at Raffles Hotel Le Royal in Phnom Penh.

It was an inter-ministerial workshop aiming for support policy development for an effective transition towards e-mobility in Cambodia.

The Inter-ministerial workshop was attended by representatives from the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia, Electricité du Cambodge (EDC), the Cambodia Climate Change Alliance, and other key players.

Cambodia is committed to encourage the use of electric cars and buses by 40 percent, and motorcycles by 70 percent by 2050 – the move that will align with the government’s long-term carbon-neutral development strategy.
