Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has called on relevant authorities and armed forces to collaborate in effectively combating illegal fishing.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the annual meeting of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries in Phnom Penh on Wednesday, Samdech Techo Hun Sen ordered concerned ministries and institutions, and the armed forces to join hands to crack down on illegal fishing and arrest the ring leaders behind the illegal activities.

The instruction was given after reports made by the Royal Academy of Cambodia on illegal fishing activities which threaten fish stocks in the Tonle Sap Lake.

“The crackdown must be conducted with no exceptions,” Samdech Techo Hun Sen underlined.

The Premier asked municipal and provincial governors, relevant ministries, the National Police, and the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces to use speed boats, helicopters, and armed forces to counter the illegal fishing activities.
