The harvest of Cambodia’s fisheries products decreased about 8 percent in 2021 to 856,400 tonnes, according to H.E. Pom Sotha, Director General of Fisheries Administration.

Fresh water fishing was amounted to 383,052 tonnes, the marine products were 125,000 tonnes, and other fisheries harvest was 348,348 tonnes, he added.

The decline fisheries products was mainly driven by climate change incidents such as storms and low water levels, which made it hard for fish to spawn, he explained.

In 2020, Cambodia harvested 936,000 tonnes of fisheries products, of which 3,590 tonnes were exported, generating around US$8.3 million.
